There will always be large numbers of humans who have a need for someone else to think for them and create their reality for them. There will also always be large numbers of people looking to find and follow someone who can show them how to escape suffering. As a friend of mine likes to say: all humans eventually leave the womb; but there are always people trying to crawl back up inside it. Dealing with reality is just too emotionally turbulent for many people, so they seek a pseudo-reality. Technology cannot change that. As long as there is a market, there will always be a product. If not the JWs, then some other cultic movement will fill in their shoes. The only way this changes is if humans evolve to a point where they no longer need it – much like the way we evolved to walking on two legs instead of four.

Anthony Morris The 3rd Talks About Human Hot Dogs At Armageddon, There Will Be No Picnic For Survivors
by frankiespeakin inwatch out for armageddon it is going to be numbing to human sensibilities:.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=micq4iqrklm.
i guess he's thinkin jehovah's gonna roast them like a hot dogs burned to a charred ruination over a fire.

Thank you for posting that frankie. This certainly needs to be widely distributed. This reminds me of that talk that Ciro Aulicino gave just after 9/11. Ciro described the vision given in Isaiah of people’s tongues falling out. While describing this scene, he mockingly made a gurgling sound as if he was someone who had lost their tongue. Charles Sinutko gave some hideous talks similar to this during the run up to 1975.
This organization has nothing to offer but pathological fear. Ironically, this manipulation is compelling enough to move otherwise intelligent people to give up a normal life in order to be circus roadies.

Where are you all people? Was Nebeska Nada rightfortelling thenew releases? :) Why you all disappeared?
It is very nice people are eager to know what the new publications are. People love truth. Excelent!
Actually, many of us enjoy comedic material; and the Watchtower writing department supplies plenty of it. On a side note, it might be a good idea to divert some time away from the Watchtowers for a little while and take a Sylvan Learning Center grammar course. Not to worry; coherence is acceptable for Christians.

At least no one can accuse this poster of being thoughtful; as that would just be so passé. Be sure to tune in next month for his 3-part symposium on this subject. Of special importance will be the “mentally diseased” nature of those he disagrees with.

DATA-DOG, thank you for taking one for the team. I'm sure the program alternated between stupefying boredom and high comedy.

I think the current posturing, and angry bluster by the Watchtower is a positive sign. Why would they devote so much time and use such vitriolic language to demonizing dissent and independent thinking if it were not a real threat to their claims of “God’s channel of communication”?
The internet has, and is doing enormous damage to their ability to hide the past and keep secrets. I can think of just a few examples of ex-JWs posting the entire Elder’s manual online, or one person I knew of who posted up years’ worth of letters sent from the branch office to the Elder bodies. This would not be an issue if it were not for the organization trying to keep so much secret from the rank and file, and continuously playing “3 Card Monte” with their doctrines.
Take the internet out of the equation, and how many modern ex-JWs would have heard of Ray Franz and read his books, for example?
The current chest-beating and venom spewing by the organization is purely and simply a sign of weakness, vulnerability, and a plain old lack of imagination. The vast majority of the general public just isn’t buying the bullshit anymore. And neither are more and more of the rank and file.
The internet is now a safe haven for discouraged and skeptical faders to now anonymously seek answers. The Watchtower is just trying to control the bleeding . . . . . . of their own self-inflicted stab wounds!

I said 'yeah that's stupid'. And she replied 'that's apostate thinking!'
LOL! It speaks volumes about a religion when its members consider rationality, logic, and sober-mindedness to be heretical concepts!

were friendships in other congregations discouraged?
by hoser ini had a good friend with a lot of common interests but he was in a congregation about 40 miles away.
we did a lot together with both of our families.
until we had a local needs part about association with ones not in our own congregation.
-

In my 30 years in the organization, I had never heard of this. It was quite common for all of us to associate with, and ever work in field service with ones in neighboring congregations. The Elders that I knew spent quite a lot of time with friends in other congregations with no complaints from anyone.
I’m wondering if this was just the rigid opinions of some local yokel Elders. One aspect of “Local Needs” talks I noticed was that it could be largely shaped by the personal feelings, intuitions, and bias of a local body of Elders. They could have certain pet peeves about where friends choose to sit in the hall, people getting up to go to the bathroom during the meeting, certain fashions, or people spending too much time on recreation. The talks are often deliberately vague as to try not to “call out” any specific individuals, while prompting people to take the messages personally.
And to be quite honest, many of us did not take these talks very seriously. Many of them seemed very childish and pedestrian, much like someone reminding an adult to chew their food properly, or to lock their car doors.

There was a very infamous urban legend that circulated among Jehovah’s Witnesses about a child’s Smurf doll that jumped up and ran out of the Kingdom Hall due to the speaker saying “Jehovah” throughout his talk. Many JWs really believed the legend!
One piece of folklore that circulated was that the creator of the Smurfs was a Satanist. An observation that was observed was that Smurf spelled backwards spelled: frumS (meaning: “from Satan”). It was imaginative silliness of course, but JWs took this very seriously.
Another thing that fed into this belief was a TV show in the early 1980s (I can’t remember which one) that showed security camera footage taken in the middle of the night at a Toys R’ Us store. The footage allegedly showed Smurf dolls being tossed off the shelves and onto the floor by themselves. This got a lot of attention from JWs.
There seemed to be a lot of hysteria among JWs back in the 1980s about demonic influence in the entertainment field. When it was discovered that playing Led Zeppelin’s “Stairway to Heaven” song backwards on vinyl contained satanic lyrics, it seems to spark a lot of paranoia among the JWs I knew. I remember JWs playing many of their records backwards looking for spiritistic lyrics.
The Smurf folklore only seemed to feed into and bolster this paranoia.

Sounds like Saudi Arabia's "theocratic arrangement".
